2025/2026 Round Franchise Wrangling Post

It’s time for the return of our franchise wrangling post! Please make sure to look at our previous franchise nominations guidelines and see if they still work for you and your fandoms, as well as get a general sense of how a franchise is likely to be split or nominated.

What is this post for?

Is one of your fandoms part of a large franchise? Do you have a case for why your fandom should appear in the tagset in a specific way? (All Media Types, Split by Specific Movie and TV Show, Some Combination of These?)

Please comment below to let me know how you and other fans of this franchise would like your fandom to appear in the tagset! (If there's already a thread for your fandom please comment there.)

I will be taking suggestions until October 31st 11:59 PM EDT so the new franchise nominations guidelines for the 2025/2026 round can be updated well ahead of nominations opening. Thank you all so much for helping to crowdsource this resource that keeps our tagset organized!

I am an adherent for Dragon Age being either All Media Types or Video Games. Most of the fanworks deal with the video games and there's enough cross-game ships that putting them in Crossover Fandom would just be a hassle rather than logical, not to mention that there's a good amount of characters that show up in 2+ games. AMT works as well because there are some comic/book/cartoon specific characters who show up in the fandom at large, but it really just depends on personal preference in my opinion! I like Dragon Age (Video Games) more because I tend to avoid AMT but that's just me :)

Seconding Dragon Age (Video Games), mainly because crossovers (as mentioned in the other comment) become unnecessarily complicated if split up by games. I would not want an AMT category. My preference is split by media, the cartoon on its own, the video games together, the books together, the comics together.

The new Critical Role main campaign (starting in about two weeks) is in a new, non-Exandria setting. I am not a CritRole guy and cannot provide advice, but it seems worth bringing up here.

Daredevil
Do Daredevil nominations go under MCU or The Defenders (TV)?
Some of the ships I want to nominate have characters that are only in the Netflix series and some are in both the Netflix series and Daredevil: Born Again.

Fear the Walking Dead/The Walking Dead
I want to nominate a ship consisting of one character from Fear the Walking Dead and one character from The Walking Dead. Should it be nominated under The Walking Dead (TV) or something else?

I don't have too many preferences here - I think putting them under the MCU makes the most sense to me, but overall in the future if people have preferences, please feel free to comment on how these should be split on the next round's franchise post!

Fear the Walking Dead/The Walking Dead

I think in this case it might be best to stick this nomination under "crossover fandom" since it sounds like these are two different series - I would be open to combining these two series in future rounds if people typically cross pollinate and write fic/make art for the world overall.
