Freeform Nominations Update Post 1

Hello! We’re updating the wording of some freeforms so they’re more easy to find in the tagset, and hunting down duplicates!

Below is the list of tags that we’ve removed because we didn’t find the substantially different from another tag in the tagset (When picking which tag to keep, we went with what felt the most clear):

• ALL: Star Trek fusion has been deleted in favor of keeping All: Star Trek AU.
• ALL: Werewolves has been deleted in favor of keeping ALL: Werewolves AU
• All: Actor AU has been deleted in favor of keeping ALL: Actors AU
• ALL: All characters except one are Muppets has been deleted in favor of keeping ALL: All But One Character is Played by the Muppets
• ALL: BDSM Dynamics are biological has been deleted in favor of keeping ALL: BDSM - Dominance/Submission/Switch are biologically innate
• ALL: Firefly AU has been deleted in favor of keeping ALL: Firefly (2002 TV) Fusion

If anyone feels strongly that one of the deleted tags should be added back into the tagset because it’s substantially different than the one that’s been kept, please comment on this post to let us know!

In addition, we’ve made the following freeform formatting updates to ensure that tags for the same fandom appear near each other and are easy to search for while browsing the freeform tagset:

I would like to make the argument that "Magical Girl AU" and "Magical Girls/Boys AU" have different connotations to them enough to keep both!

Magical Girl directly implies that female characters are magical girls or guys transform into girls for it, something that's a common enough genre idea that it's used in a variety of magical girl media, including the Sailor Moon anime.

Magical Girls/Magical Boys does not include that limitation or transformation aspect and explicitly removes that potential genderbending aspect.

Hello! I'm the "Hogwarts AU" nominator and I was hoping to keep it because it specifies that I want the characters to be at Hogwarts, while the "Harry Potter AU" could mean anything in the HP world. Like, someone could write all the characters as Aurors and fit that prompt, but that would really bum me out as I really am interested in specifically a Hogwarts setting.

So Maybe the tag could kind of be a subset? like "ALL: Harry Potter AU - Hogwarts Setting"

This tag has been added back into the tagset as "ALL: Harry Potter AU - Hogwarts Setting" so people know it's focused on the setting!

Not the nominator, not going to request either AU, but: Ice Skating AU is the broader form of Figure Skating AU, since there are kinds of ice skating other than figure skating, so if one was gonna stay I don't know why the narrower one was kept.

Hello! The “The Following” tag you said you adjusted (“it takes longer…”) is missing from the tagset

aha! So what happened here was that adding "the" pushed the tag over the 100 character limit, which the tagset will allow you to "add" on the edit interface, but will not show on the actual tagset selector, because it hasn't actually been added, which makes it look like the tag's been deleted. I've re-added it as "The Following: It takes longer for Ryan to figure out Joe's a killer; they get closer than in canon" to preserve both the prefix that corrals it near others in that fandom, and to keep all the parts of the original freeform. You should be able to find it in the tagset now!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! At 104 characters long it snuck by us.
